The examination of seminal fluids for infertility and post vasectomy purposes are non-urgent, community-based tests that are only available during normal working hours. Over time we have seen an increase in seminal fluids being collected and delivered on weekends.
The laboratory is staffed on weekends to perform urgent and on-going laboratory testing only, not routine non-urgent testing.
We would like to remind all requestors and their patients that seminal fluids (for both infertility and post vasectomy examinations) should:
The patient instructions have been updated to clearly indicate the collection/drop-off day. Please ensure you discard any old “Seminal Fluid Collection, Patient Instructions” and provide patients with this updated version.
Effective 1st June 2019, seminal fluids received on weekends or statutory holidays will not be processed and a request for a recollect will be issued.
