Vensection Service for Iron Overload / Haemochromatosis

At COVID-19 alert level 3, only high-risk iron overload patients have been venesected (following national guidelines). During this period of lock-down we have reviewed this service and have identified several quality improvements, which will be communicated over the next few months.

With the new COVID-19 alert level 2, we encourage you to resume and prioritize the booking of patients with high risk hemochromatosis, carriers of homozygous C282Y or C282Y / H63D genotypes. We offer full assurance that we aim to provide the highest clinical benefit while maintaining social distancing according to the relevant COVID-19 risk and relevant guidelines.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any queries in this regard - gustavo.faulhaber@pathlab.co.nz.
