Please note that several infectious serology assays performed at Pathlab are migrating from the Abbott Alinity platform to the Beckman DxI9000 and Diasorin Liaison testing platforms. These changes will take place over the next couple of weeks:

The new assays have all been verified by Pathlab for the purposes of quality assurance. HIV, syphilis, and anti-HCV tests showed improved specificity (less low-level falsely positive results), while maintaining comparable sensitivity to Alinity. The other assays’ performance was similar to the current assays.
Note that the new anti-HBs assay is more closely calibrated to the international standard compared to other platforms, returning slightly lower values than the current testing platform.
A comment pertaining to the new testing platform will be placed on all results affected by this change for the next three months.
This change should not have any discernable impact for laboratory requestors. As always, if there are any results which appear unusual, or not in keeping with the clinical presentation, please contact the laboratory to discuss further.
